ActiveLaunch gives you the ability to launch a group of program, files, and folders from the keyboard, never having to memorize the multitude of hotkeys. You can also select and open all the necessary using both the mouse and the keyboard. ActiveLaunch starts with a simple window, which you can call up by pressing the hotkey (default is Alt + Backspace). This window looks similar to a regular folder window in My Computer with icons reflected in it being analogues to Windows shortcuts. You can drag files, shortcuts, and documents to the ActiveLaunch window and assign keyboard shortcuts to icons. Pressing the corresponding one launches the associated program without any keyboard modifiers. Different sections can be created as subfolders to divide your icons into categories. Holding Ctrl key you can select all the necessary files and folders and open them at once. Holding Ctrl key you can also launch all the objects in a section. After launching an application, opening a document or a folder the ActiveLaunch window is automatically closed. In a multi-user environment every Windows-user is assigned with an individual set of properties and icons. To add icons you can either use the Windows Drag&Drop technology or the menu. However, in some Windows versions, drives and My Documents folder can be added only through the menu. For example, if you want to create an icon for your CD-ROM drive in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, you should go to the File menu, click Add Folder, and select your CD-ROM drive in the list of drives available.
