RECOVER Fixed/Floppy Disk is a Directory / File level Data Recovery Utility for DOS 3.1 to DOS 7.x, WINDOWS 3.1, WINDOWS 3.11, WINDOWS 95, and 16-Bit (FAT16) and 12-Bit (FAT12) file systems under WINDOWS 95-OSR2 & 98. Has Long File Name support on WIN 95/95-OSR2/98.
On WINDOWS 95-OSR2/98, disk partition size has to be 2GB or less and file systems has to be FAT16 (total size of HDD can be 10GB, 20GB or more). And it runs on FAT12 file systems too (floppies and very small partitions on HDD).
Recovers files from reformatted disk, from disk after Deltree was run, from floppies with bad Boot sector.
Adamantly targets 100% recovery and provides hard-core ideas to achieve it in program documentation which alone is worth more than $15.
User can employ FAT copy 1 or FAT copy 2 or both to recover files.
RECOVER Fixed/Floppy Disk helps you access and recover files and directories DOS or WINDOWS cannot access. For example:
When no safeguards have been made:
Recovers files on a floppy disk with bad Boot sector, on HDD / floppy with partially damaged FAT and/or directory (incl. Root directory).
When safeguards have been made:
Recovers files from HDD / floppy with completely corrupt, erased or damaged FAT and/or Root directory (or any directory).
Required safeguards are just 2. (1) Regular defragmentation of HDD / floppy. (2) Backing up of Root directory or any required subdirectory which might get damaged later.
Recovers files even if both Root Directory and FAT on disk are damaged at the same time.
Displays file / directory fragmentation status, starting sector of file / directory, unreadable sectors in FAT copies / Root directory, and more.
One type of Report file produced lists extraordinary level of file / directory location details for each fragmentation even for hidden and/or system files / directories.
